Geez, I had no idea I hadn’t written in so long!!

Well, my first summer class is over. No more Homer for me. I started my class about the Holocaust yesterday. I like it and it’s interesting, but there is a ton of reading! I like going to class though because it’s interesting the whole time. I don’t find myself daydreaming too much.

Because my class is at 11, I work at 9 now. I like it except that I work with another girl at the same time and there’s barely enough for one person to do, let alone two.

So last night something fell down into the tubing of our little fireplace, and I guess it made a huge thud, so Bethany thought it was a squirrel and Steveo thought it was a mouse. We spent, like, a half hour trying to get it out and couldn’t. We finally tried once more this morning since our landlord was going to have to come over to take it apart. We got it out. And by “we” I mean Steveo. It was just a really big beetle. For a while I was thinking it might have been the mouse we always hear running around in the ceiling, but I guess not haha. Oh well, his running doesn’t really bug me anyways.

So Frank went home for the week to help his mom run his grandma’s store. I’m so bored without him haha. It’s funny cause I’m still busy, but I feel lonely because usually even when I’m doing my homework and stuff he’s here too, and we stop in the middle of things to talk, but now he’s not here. Oh well, I guess. I’ll get over it. It’s been weird only making dinner for one person though.

I have good news. I weighed myself at the gym today and I’m down 10 lbs from where I was when I was home. I was hoping for more than 10 because last Monday I weighed myself and I was down 8 lbs. It’s understandable though because Saturday was my Grandparents 50th Anniversary party, so there were a lot of extra calories eaten that day with cake and such. It was a lot of fun though, and I got to see people I like (and people I don’t haha). Even though 10 lbs isn’t that much because of how much I want to lose, I already feel so much happier. I’ve noticed I’m a lot less moody, which is nice, because I know I’ve been pretty moody the last few months.

Now that I’ve finished my tons of reading for tonight, I’m going to go ahead and go to bed.

Gym Playlist

Feeling: Bored and Unproductive
Craving: Drink
Hearing: Gnarls Barkley
Last Movie: Jaws
Last DVD: What Dreams May Come
Last on TV: Divine Design
Reading: The Odyssey by Homer, The Giver by Lowry, and Wicked by Gregory Maguire
Talking to: Frank
Plugging: Colloquy

So I was thinking about my gym playlist on my ipod. It’s a very silly mix and some of it isn’t very gym-like. And some of it, is good for now, but I’ll get sick of it soon.

  • Here it Goes Again – Ok Go – fun and upbeat plus they’re on treadmills in their video
  • Buttons ft. Snoop Dogg – Pussycat Dolls – upbeat again plus I love Snoop
  • Gold Digger – Kanye West – good beat
  • All Falls Down ft. Syleena – Kanye West – good beat and I love Syleena’s vocals
  • I Believe in a Thing Called Love – The Darkness – such a fun song!
  • Love Stoned – Justin Timberlake – just a good beat, I guess
  • Elevator – Flo-Rida – Good beat, plus they mention Arizona… haha
  • My Goodies – Ciara – I love the rap in this song.
  • Girl Anachronism – The Dresden Dolls – SO much fun!
  • Kiss Kiss ft. T-Pain – Chris Brown – I just like this song a lot.
  • Love Song – Sara Bareilles – Good song, she’s got a beautiful voice, plus I love how passionate the song is.
  • No Air ft. Chris Brown – Jordin Sparks – Again, beautiful voices and it’s passionate
  • More Than A Feeling – Boston – Classic. I love blasting this one and singing at the top of my lungs (not at the gym of course – at the gym I just go faster)
  • Low ft. T-Pain – Flo-Rida – just fun
  • Me & You – Cassie – For some reason I really like this song. I think it’s her voice
  • We Got the Beat – GoGos – I do have the beat.
  • Hurt So Good – John Melloncamp – Perfect gym song – I love being sore – it hurts sooo good
  • Work It – Missy Elliot – I love Missy Elliot. She’s so silly. Her songs put me in a good mood and I just wanna giggle
  • Jane Says – Janes Addiction – This seems like a weird song for the list, but obviously my taste in music is weird period. It’s passionate.
  • Jig Wit’ It – Street Runnaz Click – Another silly one that gets me going
  • Makes Me Wonder – Maroon 5 – Fun and fast
  • Sensual Seduction – Snoop Dogg – Silly, and, again, I love Snoop
  • Take On Me – A-ha – Gotta love 80s music. I should have more on my gym playlist. This song makes me wanna move
  • Rock Lobster – B-52s – Such a silly song. Again it makes me wanna move
  • Miss New Booty – Bubba Sparxxx – I like this song, but I’ve had it on my list for a while. It could probably go soon
  • Gonna Make You Sweat k- C + C Music Company – Another perfect work out song
  • Ridin DIrty ft. Krayzie Bone – Chamillionaire – This one could also go soon. It’s been on the list a long time
  • Zoot Suit Riot – Cherry Poppin Daddies – Gotta love swing music
  • Dip It Low – Christina Milian – This one could go soon. Good beat though
  • One Two Step ft. Missy Elliot – Ciara – More Missy :)
  • Whip It – Devo – Whip myself into shape
  • September – Earth Wind and Fire – Fun song. I love harmony
  • The Sweet Escape ft. Akon – Gwen Stefani – This one could go soon, but I like Gwen
  • Wind it Up – Gwen Stefani – Reminds me that people stare when you look and move good haha
  • Beating Hearts Baby – Head Automatica – good beat and fun
  • Intuition – Jewel – I love Jewel, and obviously most of her music wouldn’t work for a gym playlist, so this is what I used
  • Good Life ft. T-Pain – Kanye West – Good song, but it’s been on the list awile. Gotta let other Kanye songs take over the top of the list.
  • Roll Out – Ludacris – I’ve always loved this song. It’s so fast and silly
  • Girlfriend ft. Nelly – N’sync – Only N’sync song I like, and maybe that’s cause Nelly is in it :) good beat
  • Rollercoaster of Love – Red Hot Chili Peppers – Gotta love it.

So there’s my list. Any recommendations are welcome. My music taste is obviously eclectic. I like making new lists occasionally because sometimes the list gets a little stale at the gym, like I said with some of the songs lower on the list.

I think I need to go to sleep now, I’ve got a lot to do this week since it’s the last week of class for the first summer session.

And yay for 6 days to the gym in the last week! GO ME!

I feel like I haven’t written in forever!!!

Well, I got my new phone today :D YAY! It came yesterday, and my roommate was in the shower, and my boyfriend (who was at my house so that if fed-ex came to the door in my room, he’d be able to hear) was in my room, and they went to the front door instead… so I missed it. I was very bummed. But I got it today. Thank you who ever invented leaving a signature. Anywho I can’t activate it though because one of the things that’s wrong with my phone is I can’t call anyone haha. So I get to wait until 5 or so tonight. Not so yay. Oh well, at least it’s pretty.

I’m really proud of myself. I’ve gone to the gym the last two nights in a row, and I’m going in a little while again! Yay for being skinny! … oh yeah, and healthy : P It was really exciting too because last night I went and I was in a bad mood when I got there, but it put me in a good mood. Gotta love those endorphins!

I also had an oral report today on a super confusing article about origins of The Odyssey, but I think it went well, and I think I did better on this than I usually do during speeches. Then I got to work and got to do a project. It’s nice to do projects and get away from the mundane stuff I always do. PLUS I got my work-study situation resolved, so now I can get more hours at work if I want them.

I love good weeks – maybe because good weeks don’t happen often, and maybe I’m exaggerating and it’s only been a good day, but at least it’s making my week look better retrospectively.

Let’s see… my class is also almost over. I have 5 classes left! AND I ordered my books for my next class online and it was only $36! for shipping and everything! AND two of them have already arrived.

Okay, this is probably such a happy post people who read it will puke. I’m going to get ready to go to the gym!

Work is Lame

So I came into work today for a six hour shift and there is nothing to do. I told my boss yesterday I was coming in for the long shift (before the end of this fiscal year) and we both knew there wouldn’t be six hours of work, but I didn’t know there would only be a half hour of work. So I’m sitting here trying to get homework done, but I’m really bored. And kinda hungry. And I still have 4 hours left of work. BLEH!!!!

I have an oral report I have to about the Odyssey on Tuesday, but I’ve read the first page and a half so far and it’s about Aladdin…. I don’t get it. But that kind of annoyed me so now I don’t want to keep reading it. Plus I’m cold, and, like, I already said, I’m hungry. I’m especially tempted to leave because I may not get my homework done if I go home, but I’m coming in again tomorrow for six hours, and there won’t be work to do then either, so I can do homework then. And bring coffee. That was my mistake today.

My dad ordered my new phone today… or at least he told me he was going to. I hope it comes on Monday, cause I’m so sick of my phone. My car is also ready on Monday, I don’t know if I mentioned that and I don’t feel like going to look, but we took my car to a repair shop last Monday, but since Frank might have to go to Phoenix on Monday, I’m not sure if I’ll be able to go get it. It’ll be nice to have my car back though, plus we can stop using Frank’s gas-guzzling truck for the few times we do go anywhere.

I can’t believe my class is almost over already. I have 8 days of classes left. That is one thing I definitely like about summer school – you get it over with quick. I just hope I didn’t do too bad on my paper cause I didn’t work very hard on it, but I’ve done well on my quizzes. It’s hard to go from high school where getting A’s was mandatory (to my parents) and then coming to college. Now that I’ve raised my gpa (it sucked after my first semester) up to 3.6, getting a B isn’t a huge deal. I need to remember that.

I’m glad the draft is finally over. For some reason, even though I’ve never watched it before, I was kinda nervous, or anxious. I was really mad at first that we drafted Robin Lopez, but when I got to thinking about it and talking to Frank about it, I realized that we do need a backup center, and he’s lucky to get to work with Shaq and Amare. If he really learns from them, he’s gonna be one of the best center’s in the NBA eventually. And I didn’t realize that the Suns had a second round pick – I thought we had traded it to either Seattle or Portland (not that it matters), but I saw we drafted Malik Hairston. When I saw that I got a lot less mad about drafting Lopez, because the reason I had initially been upset is because we need a back up guard for Nash. So now that I see we have one, I’m happy. I can’t wait for next season to start.

Alright, well I’m either going to start doing some more homework or I’m gonna go home… I’m not sure which. Either way, I should stop goofing off.

8 Days Left

My LG phone has now put itself permanently into “CAR KIT” mode and I have tried numerous ways to try to get it out, to no avail.

I found a forum where other people are obviously having the same problem (although that isn’t my exact phone), but of course I still have no answer.

Basically with “CAR KIT,” I have no sound for text messages or when my phone boots up, but I can hear my phone ring and my alarm go off. BUT when I get or make phone calls, I can’t hear the other person and the other person can’t hear me. So I kinda just have a beeper right now. I can send messages and that’s it. GRRRR

And it looks as though the forum is saying that there is either moisture in my phone (which there isn’t) or there is something wrong with the charging port, which there is. Back in, like, December or even longer than that, I noticed my phone wasn’t holding as much of a charge, and when I went to a Verizon store they told me that the charger port had been ruined, kind of. The little metal bars, or whatever, in the port – some of them were bent up. So, I guess this is just my continual punishment for ruining that.

So, back to the title of my blog: Thank God I only have 8 more days until I get my new phone.

Anywho, I took a quiz for my class on Tuesday(?) and I realized Tuesday night that I had forgotten to answer one of the parts. The IDs said to answer 5/8 and I only answered 4. I got my quiz back today and I got a 90%. Totally lucky. I couldn’t believe it. Unfortunately, as it is a summer class, and therefore sped-up, I have another quiz Monday, a paper due Thursday and my midterm on Friday. BLEH.

My parent’s are here this weekend for a church thing. It’s good to see them again, but I just saw them haha. I kinda wish it could’ve been a couple weeks from now, just cause I really don’t know when the next time I’ll see them is. It may be as far away as Labor Day weekend when we go to Hatch for the Chile Festival.

Bleh. I have to get up early and I’m mad about my phone, so I’m off to bed.

Raise your hand if you love Pushing Daisies!

My hand is most definitely raised! Oh how I love this tv show! From the beautiful Lee Pace, to the amazing sets, to the brilliant idea, to the crime solving, to the hilarity…. I love everything – it’s just an amazing show. Frank said it’s the quintessential ME show… Not sure what he means by that haha… other than he thinks I’m a big weirdo.

Lee Pace

I mean, c’mon!! If nothing else, watch the show for the Pie Maker!

I hope Frank doesn’t see this post, cause he’ll be just a tad jealous : P

Well anyway, when I was at work earlier I was convinced that when I got home I’d clean and start working on my first paper for my class on Homer and be productive in general. So far I’ve eaten lunch… and started this blog haha. Oh, that’s a lie, I did dishes too, but it’s not like there was much to do.

That’s something I do enjoy about our apartment – there’s no dishwasher. And you may be thinking, “why the hell would you like that?” Well let me tell you: We don’t have enough dishes to fill a dishwasher anyway, so if we were continually putting our dishes in the dishwasher, we would run out of dishes before we had to run it. Next, since we have a small dish drainer for the dishes to dry in, we have to put the clean dishes away more often. When I lived at my parents house, I would always just stack dishes until there was no more room left and I had to put them away. Now that amount of time is much smaller haha. I don’t know, it just makes me neater, which is always good. I need things like that.

So, money’s getting tight, especially after spending $120 on groceries due to the fact that I had to buy a lot of stuff since I had absolutely nothing other than snacks and soy milk at my apartment. I think we’re going grocery shopping again tonite… hello credit card.

I’m usually really good about paying most of my bill on my credit cards every month, plus I’m usually pretty good about not using it much, but now I don’t even have the money too. BLEH.

Well, with that said, I think I’m going to do my reading for class tomorrow… or nap. One of the two.

Yay! I finally started reading Wicked again, but I realized when I started reading it again that it has been so long that I just have to reread all the stuff I read before. I want to read a lot of it today since I have another week of school again. Bleh. I like that my class is only almost 2 hours a day (and actually since my teacher is fifteen minutes late every day and gives us a ten minute break in between it’s really only an hour and twenty minutes), and having it from 9 to 11 is nice because I get it over with early, but five days a week in painful. I’ve got to live up the weekend I guess.

And we did last night. A few of Franks friends came over and so did Michelle, so we were up until after 2 am doing… various things. I woke up at 10:30 though when my sister texted me and was ready to get up… now I’m the only one up and I’m hungry, but I don’t know what to eat or anything. Boring.

So Big Fish just came on and I’ve never seen it. I remember I wanted to see it so bad when it first came out. And now my sunburn has turned into my lopsided tan. I also got some really big news the other day, and of course I can’t talk about it. I hate that! You get big news, but people don’t want to tell others until later.

Well, yeah. Work was good yesterday. My boss said there was four hours of work, but I kind of didn’t believe him until I got there. I’d much rather be busy at work than searching for things to do. That’s why I always loved doing the wall changes at Linens N Things, where everything had to be moved and re-tagged and stuff. It’s always tedious stuff, but I kind of like the tedious stuff haha.

I think I’m going to go eat now. I’m getting to hungry to keep waiting for Frank. And I can’t think of anything particularly good or interesting to blog about.

Bleh. I have to work tomorrow. I’m glad I will have work again (especially since it’s only until the end of June), but I’m still not looking forward to it. It’s been really nice coming back from school and doing nothing for the rest of the day. I guess, since it’s only temporary work I will work Monday – Saturday. The thing that really sucks is that Frank and I walk to school together and now we’ll have to walk back separately. It’s a little thing, but still.

When I went to talk to my boss about that today I also grabbed Wicked and Son of a Witch from the library. Of course, I haven’t picked it up today, but I will. Instead Frank and I watched TV and took a three hour nap.

I’ve been playing around with Photoshop again. I go through phases with it. I saw a tutorial on smashing magazine about using the clouds filter. I’d like to see and use more tutorials like that because I’d really like to get better with graphic design.

I now have a profile on Library Thing and I’m excited for it. I’ll add some of my random books at some point, but I’m too tired to tonite.

I guess that’s all for today : P

Sunburns Suck

Last Movie: Hot Fuzz
Last DVD: Ed Wood
Last on TV: Hot Fuzz
Reading: The Iliad by Homer
Talking to: Frank

Frank and I have been walking to school in the morning. It’s nice, but yesterday we walked from his house and it was super hot. I haven’t been sunburned in a long time, but after the 40 minute walk to class and the 40 minute walk back from class in a tank top, it happened. Yay for freaky tan lines. I thought it was going to hurt a lot today, but luckily it doesn’t. Now I’m just sitting here watching the Braves game with Frank even thought I don’t like baseball…

So I saw an article about Cherlize Theron saying that she was “slamming” other actors, when she said

“It comes across as this really sad need for approval. I’ve heard people make comments like, ‘You don’t really want to be in the tabloids but you need to be for your career.’ They believe it’s actually important. It’s not. It’s ugly.”

I don’t think that is “slamming” other famous people. It’s true! Wanting to be in the tabloids seems to me, like a quest for attention too, and personally I don’t think that bad attention is worth it. I guess I’m not someone who likes to be the center of attention anyway. I’d much rather be the best friend of the person in the limelight, but maybe that’s just me.

The Suns finally have a new coach. I’m a little scared. I know we need to work on defense, but I’m afraid other things will slip. My boyfriend and his roommate were saying we need to get rid of Diaw or Barbosa, but at least they stepped up in the finals against the Spurs. Our “top three” didn’t. Not that I want Nash, Stat, or Shaq to leave. Well, actually Shaq didn’t do what he was supposed to, so whatever. I guess my point is that for this all to work, with a new coach, everyone needs to freaking step up.

So, I was talking to a friend of mine yesterday and he was saying that he has applied to 8 or 9 places down here and no one has even called him back. After we talked about that I started getting scared that I’m never going to get a job down here, but I really need one. So I emailed my nice boss at the library to ask if theres a chance that I could work there this summer even though I said a month ago that I wasn’t going to. So I at least have a job until the end of June, but I need to go see him to figure out when I’m going to work. I really like not working though haha. It’s nice going to school and then coming home and just doing nothing, or cleaning. I’d make a good housewife haha.

After reading the Iliad today I really want to go to the library and get other books. I keep forgetting to take my library card with me to school, though and Frank doesn’t want to walk back over there today :( I want to read, but I want to finish reading Wicked!

So I also read today on AOL (I hate AOL, but it has a good news page) that the US life expectancy is behind 30 some other countries. Japan has the number 1 life expectancy with 83 years old. I’ve decided I’m blaming the fast food world, along with the lethargic life style. I know that’s my problem haha. Being overweight just causes SO many other health problems! From things like diabetes, and heart failure, to something I had to deal with this year. When I gained weight at the beginning of this year I noticed my feet were hurting, but not in a normal way – the top of my feet were hurting and I was literally limping. That’s when I had to stop wearing flip flops 24/7 and start wearing tennis shoes again.

So anyway, if you couldn’t tell I don’t have much in my own life to talk about today haha. I haven’t fixed my car yet. Frank is going to look underneath my car and see if something with the gear shift is loose, but we have to wait until I can call my dad and he can explain what frank should look for. Anyway, I finally need to go unpack my bags and clean my room, so I’m going to go do that.

I love monkeys!!

Well, this is my first post. My name is Michelle and I’m 20 years old. I’m a studying Classics at the University of Arizona and I plan on going into Library Science after that. If you can’t gather it from that, I love books. I don’t get to read as much as I want to though, because during the school year I feel guilty if I read non-school books. BUT ITS SUMMER NOW :)

Go Ask AliceThe first night I got back home I went straight to the library and got a couple books and movies. So far the only book I’ve finished is Go Ask Alice, which, if you haven’t read, you definitely should.

Also, now that it’s summer, I get to start concentrating on learning Greek since I start next fall. I found an AMAZING free program called Before You Know It. It has lists of words, electronic flash cards, and it even has sound, which I thought I would never find in a free program. Crazy, but exciting. My boyfriend made fun of me a little for taking Greek, but first off, I’m a 1/4 Greek, and secondly, I have to take Greek or Latin for my major… I don’t have much of a choice : )

I guess that’s all for today!
