So I came into work today for a six hour shift and there is nothing to do. I told my boss yesterday I was coming in for the long shift (before the end of this fiscal year) and we both knew there wouldn’t be six hours of work, but I didn’t know there would only be a half hour of work. So I’m sitting here trying to get homework done, but I’m really bored. And kinda hungry. And I still have 4 hours left of work. BLEH!!!!
I have an oral report I have to about the Odyssey on Tuesday, but I’ve read the first page and a half so far and it’s about Aladdin…. I don’t get it. But that kind of annoyed me so now I don’t want to keep reading it. Plus I’m cold, and, like, I already said, I’m hungry. I’m especially tempted to leave because I may not get my homework done if I go home, but I’m coming in again tomorrow for six hours, and there won’t be work to do then either, so I can do homework then. And bring coffee. That was my mistake today.
My dad ordered my new phone today… or at least he told me he was going to. I hope it comes on Monday, cause I’m so sick of my phone. My car is also ready on Monday, I don’t know if I mentioned that and I don’t feel like going to look, but we took my car to a repair shop last Monday, but since Frank might have to go to Phoenix on Monday, I’m not sure if I’ll be able to go get it. It’ll be nice to have my car back though, plus we can stop using Frank’s gas-guzzling truck for the few times we do go anywhere.
I can’t believe my class is almost over already. I have 8 days of classes left. That is one thing I definitely like about summer school – you get it over with quick. I just hope I didn’t do too bad on my paper cause I didn’t work very hard on it, but I’ve done well on my quizzes. It’s hard to go from high school where getting A’s was mandatory (to my parents) and then coming to college. Now that I’ve raised my gpa (it sucked after my first semester) up to 3.6, getting a B isn’t a huge deal. I need to remember that.
I’m glad the draft is finally over. For some reason, even though I’ve never watched it before, I was kinda nervous, or anxious. I was really mad at first that we drafted Robin Lopez, but when I got to thinking about it and talking to Frank about it, I realized that we do need a backup center, and he’s lucky to get to work with Shaq and Amare. If he really learns from them, he’s gonna be one of the best center’s in the NBA eventually. And I didn’t realize that the Suns had a second round pick – I thought we had traded it to either Seattle or Portland (not that it matters), but I saw we drafted Malik Hairston. When I saw that I got a lot less mad about drafting Lopez, because the reason I had initially been upset is because we need a back up guard for Nash. So now that I see we have one, I’m happy. I can’t wait for next season to start.
Alright, well I’m either going to start doing some more homework or I’m gonna go home… I’m not sure which. Either way, I should stop goofing off.

Frank and I have been walking to school in the morning. It’s nice, but yesterday we walked from his house and it was super hot. I haven’t been sunburned in a long time, but after the 40 minute walk to class and the 40 minute walk back from class in a tank top, it happened. Yay for freaky tan lines. I thought it was going to hurt a lot today, but luckily it doesn’t. Now I’m just sitting here watching the Braves game with Frank even thought I don’t like baseball…
So I saw an article about Cherlize Theron saying that she was “slamming” other actors, when she said
“It comes across as this really sad need for approval. I’ve heard people make comments like, ‘You don’t really want to be in the tabloids but you need to be for your career.’ They believe it’s actually important. It’s not. It’s ugly.”
I don’t think that is “slamming” other famous people. It’s true! Wanting to be in the tabloids seems to me, like a quest for attention too, and personally I don’t think that bad attention is worth it. I guess I’m not someone who likes to be the center of attention anyway. I’d much rather be the best friend of the person in the limelight, but maybe that’s just me.
The Suns finally have a new coach. I’m a little scared. I know we need to work on defense, but I’m afraid other things will slip. My boyfriend and his roommate were saying we need to get rid of Diaw or Barbosa, but at least they stepped up in the finals against the Spurs. Our “top three” didn’t. Not that I want Nash, Stat, or Shaq to leave. Well, actually Shaq didn’t do what he was supposed to, so whatever. I guess my point is that for this all to work, with a new coach, everyone needs to freaking step up.
So, I was talking to a friend of mine yesterday and he was saying that he has applied to 8 or 9 places down here and no one has even called him back. After we talked about that I started getting scared that I’m never going to get a job down here, but I really need one. So I emailed my nice boss at the library to ask if theres a chance that I could work there this summer even though I said a month ago that I wasn’t going to. So I at least have a job until the end of June, but I need to go see him to figure out when I’m going to work. I really like not working though haha. It’s nice going to school and then coming home and just doing nothing, or cleaning. I’d make a good housewife haha.
After reading the Iliad today I really want to go to the library and get other books. I keep forgetting to take my library card with me to school, though and Frank doesn’t want to walk back over there today
I want to read, but I want to finish reading Wicked!
So I also read today on AOL (I hate AOL, but it has a good news page) that the US life expectancy is behind 30 some other countries. Japan has the number 1 life expectancy with 83 years old. I’ve decided I’m blaming the fast food world, along with the lethargic life style. I know that’s my problem haha. Being overweight just causes SO many other health problems! From things like diabetes, and heart failure, to something I had to deal with this year. When I gained weight at the beginning of this year I noticed my feet were hurting, but not in a normal way – the top of my feet were hurting and I was literally limping. That’s when I had to stop wearing flip flops 24/7 and start wearing tennis shoes again.
So anyway, if you couldn’t tell I don’t have much in my own life to talk about today haha. I haven’t fixed my car yet. Frank is going to look underneath my car and see if something with the gear shift is loose, but we have to wait until I can call my dad and he can explain what frank should look for. Anyway, I finally need to go unpack my bags and clean my room, so I’m going to go do that.

Well, I’m back. I’m in Tucson and school started today.
My weekend was awesome for the most part – at least the San Diego part. The wedding turned out really good. I helped make the centerpieces and decorate and then I helped make the food. It was a very disorganized wedding, but small and casual so it didn’t matter anyway. I took way too many pictures

Well, we left yesterday morning and flew back to Phoenix on a much bumpier ride, but at least I didn’t get too much motion sickness. When we got there we went to my grandparents house. I had wanted to leave Phoenix around 3 pm or so, but since my grandpa decided there was something wrong with my starter he went to put in a new one. He told me at one point that I should take a shuttle since I would have to be down here today for my first class. Well, we decided it would be okay, and so around 6 I left. My car was good all through the drive, but when I got here and pulled into the gas station, I couldn’t get the gear shift out of drive so I called my dad and he told me to get my gas, and then I could still drive home. Well after I got my gas I couldn’t get my car started again. So I had to call a tow truck.
My dad was trying to help me on the phone, but when things like this happen, I can’t help but cry. He got frustrated with me crying and gave the phone to my mom who told me to call a tow truck. Thank God for Allstate’s free towing! Well, I told Frank I was broken down and he came to wait with me and the tow truck came about 45 minutes after I called. The guy was very nice, but told me that if my car was stuck in gear that he didn’t want to ruin my transmission by putting it on the flatbed… Frank mentioned something about “if it rolls wouldn’t it be okay?” but the guy said he didn’t want to take the chance so he’d call a wheel-lock tow truck.
So another 30 minutes or so, another tow truck shows up. The guy is not nearly as nice, but he gets in and sees that my car will roll, so he doesn’t get why he was called to do this. He calls the first tow truck guy who says that we told him we didn’t want him to ruin my transmission and asked for a different tow truck….. as if I know ANYTHING about tow trucks. I hate when people shift the blame to someone else, and I try not to, but I know I do occasionally. But that was just dumb.
I finally got home at around 10:30 and I went to bed around midnight or something, but after crying so much my eyes hurt so bad and I had a massive headache plus I had missed dinner due to the car mess. Because of that, I felt almost like I had a huge hangover this morning, but I went to class and all is well now.
My class was pretty good although the teacher was 15 minutes late, but whatever. We talked about the background of Homer’s Iliad and Odyssey because that’s what the class is about, but I knew all of that stuff already. The only crappy thing is the books. One of the books costs about $60 and is back ordered, but we might have to buy it anyway. Then for The Odyssey and the Iliad we have to buy copies by a specific translator, so instead of borrowing the Iliad from the library for free, I had to go buy it for $11.
After all that, Frank and I ran errands and stuff. I found that my internet wasn’t working so I had to call and deal with that and I just figured out that it wasn’t the modem or the internet or anything – its the cable. So I get to do that tomorrow. AND I got to use my gas stove in my apartment YAY! I love gas stoves! Well, since we have to choose between tv or internet, I’d better get going.
