So I decided to have a Disney movie marathon today. I watched Aladdin, Hercules, and the Little Mermaid. 3 of my favorites   I hadn’t watched Hercules in a long time, and even though I’d only seen it one or two times it was still one of my favorites. Thats when I realized that I should’ve known that I would want to get a degree in Classics since the first time I saw it. Of course, I didn’t actually know that a major like that existed nor would I have known what it was called. Whenever I tell people what my major is, about 90% of the time they say “And what is that?” But if I had known I could’ve avoided the bad grades I got in my Pre-Calc class and my so-so grades in Chemistry. I saw the other day that if you only count classes that are in my major I have a 4.0 and when you count the classes that are only in my minor I have a 4.0 lol. Its my other classes that have brought my gpa down to a 3.7.

I was really worried about my grades towards the end of this semester because of the stuff going on in my personal life. The last week of actual classes, right before finals started I got in a fight with my boyfriend. And it was a stupid fight. I was having a bad day and I felt like he was being insensitive. All because of that we are now “on a break.” Without all the humorous implications that come from that phrase’s use in Friends, its sooo stupid. We are supposed to be thinking about the future, but my thought is that breaks just make it easier to forget each other and it just ends up being a buffer between being together and not being together. I definitely think that that’s true. We haven’t talked much since about 4 days after it happened. I think we’ve talked once. It’s really tough and it makes me feel really lonely because he’s my BEST friend – the one I could talk to about anything. But I’m pretty sure that he’s going to want to break up when we get back to school. At first I was really heart broken and just wanted to cry all the time. Now I’m much less emotionally charged and I can write this and just barely get some tears in my eyes. If I wanted to I could cry about it, but I don’t want to. I’m sick of crying and being sad. I want to know if I need to move on or if I need to forgive him for this break and move on in our relationship. I don’t like being in this limbo.

I talked to my aunt about it and she actually really helped which was very surprising to me. But I feel like she actually kind of understands the tough spot we’re in and I don’t think very many other people do. I haven’t told my parents, because 1) I know what they’ll say and 2) what if we get back together? then it would be a waste of that conversation. I’m not close enough with my parents to tell them every little change. When Frank and I started dating I didn’t tell them until like 3 months in because I didn’t want to bother if we were not going to stay together. Bleh. It’s just a tough position to be in, but I think it’s getting a little bit easier. I’m just worried about what it is going to be like when we get back to school. When I’m home I’m used to not talking to him as much and used to not seeing him, but once I get back to Tucson, it will be SOO different. I’m scared.

Anyway, I don’t really want to think about this that much anymore. I’ve been working a lot. I’ve had 2 days off in the last week and a half. I’m not used to that anymore lol. Since working at the library I’m used to having almost every other day off and only working 4 hour shifts. But it’s been kind of a fun job and everyone likes working with me which is always nice. Jamie was telling me that everyone was excited to meet me and I was like, “oh great, they’re gonna meet me and be like, ‘eh, she’s okay.’” lol. So I lived up to my hype I guess

Well, I’m going to stop blogging so I can finish watching the Suns game. It’s getting a little more exciting and we’re in the 3rd, so I’m gonna pay attention now.

Geez talk about a long break, huh? This is why I suck at this whole blogging thing. I get busy and my blog suffers. If you notice my last post is pretty much right before school started, and now here I am, after midterms. I should be reading The Last Days of Socrates, but I really don’t want to. Thucydides killed my spirit already tonight. That is one of the worst reads ever!!! My teacher was saying he did not pick the Steven Lattimore translation for its readability (of course not! that would be too nice). Thucydides takes away my will to learn. UGH.

Anywho, so I actually started Greek and I must say, I’m doing pretty darn good. Today’s quiz was definitely not my best though. If I had learned grammar a little better when I was learning English, this wouldn’t be so difficult, but since I have a hard time figuring out what nominative vs. accusative cases are in English, it makes it difficult to do in Greek. Tomorrow night our class is going to Big Fat Greek Restaurant and it’s on the University. I wish it wasn’t during the Suns game though!!! Well, hopefully that will be kinda fun. Outside-of-class-class-events are always a little awkward though.

OH! And my car is fixed! Now, I believe it was fixed the last time I blogged (but as I established that was FOREVER ago). My car broke twice since then, I’m pretty sure. Maybe even three times. But I got a new battery and Frank put it in for me and now its working! I’m mobile again! And the best part?

I GET TO GET MY NEW CAR NEXT WEEKEND!!! That’s right, I’m trading in my pink Rabbit. While I love it and really don’t want to let it go, it’s 30 years old and not that reliable. I’m going to let the girl across the street from my parents buy it cause I like her, and that was one of my biggest things about selling my car. I didn’t want it to go to just any girl. I’m excited to be able to go places now! I could drive to Phoenix if I needed to. I could drive to California if I wanted to! This will be really good for when my sister has her baby too. I can leave as soon as she goes into labor, and be there 4 hours later (hopefully!).

I guess I actually should get to finishing my homework since it’s getting late.

Wow, whats wrong with me? why can’t I be a consistent blogger. I finished my class on the Holocaust and I got an A. I was a little worried because I went home last weekend for my parents 31st anniversary and when I woke up Sunday morning I had a cold. So anyway, I didn’t get to study as much as I wanted to because I was sick. I had to skip work because of it. That ended up being an issue, which was weird because whenever I’ve had to skip work at that job (with my nice boss) he’s always been fine with it. Anyway… I got an A which was good because it was 50% of my grade and I should have studied more.

I’ve been loving the Olympics! Gymnastics is totally my favorite and I love watching it. Its been kind of annoying that it’s always on when swimming is on and they have to go back and forth, but my sister pointed out that at least it was swimming and not something lame, like, skeet shooting or something.

So I bought all my books for this semester and so far I’ve received all but 3. I saved about 50% percent though by going online. A lot of people don’t do the buying online thing correctly, I’ve noticed. My roommate ordered some books, but she ordered them so late that she had to pay for the expedited shipping, which pretty much defeats the purpose. You have to order your books early. BUT the other thing is, because you’re ordering them early, you have to stick with the classes you sign up for. I’ve noticed that most people drop their classes like their hot. ( I love snoop dogg). I have not dropped any classes so far in college and thats the other key to buying books online. It’s a fine science.

I cannot believe school starts again on the 25th. I was looking through the workbook for my Greek class and it looks very intense. There are, like, no directions in English…. It just seems scary.

Well, I’m going to try to write again soon.

Plugging: I would plug the guy that wrote what I’m about to talk about, but I don’t like him, so I’m not going to.

Hmm… so I just read a post about Obama saying, “This is my second visit to Yad Vashem…I am always taken back to, sort of, the core question of humanity that the Holocaust raises. And that is, on the one hand man’s great capacity for evil but on the other hand the capacity to join together and stop evil if we are willing to speak out in one voice.” The author said that this quote was in poor taste… I just have one question… How? Looking back on it he may want to change his wording or add something, but what he said overall is not bad. Yes he was simplifying the Holocaust, but he wasn’t there to give a huge speech on the Holocaust.  And then apparently Obama is the devil for saying this. How many dumb things has Bush said?! Pretty much every word that comes out of his mouth is the wrong one.

Bleh. Politics. Okay, I’m done with that. So, speaking of the Holocaust, I am taking my class on it now. It’s really good, except it’s tough to read some of the stuff, like the Jedwabne massacre. I don’t really want to go into because of how graphic it is. But, yeah. I really like learning the details of this stuff. My roommates boyfriend was asking what exactly I’m learning in this class since everyone knows about the Holocaust, but what you learn about it is so superficial. I really like learning the details of what happened. I had no idea about the Hitler-Stalin Nonaggression Pact until I took this class.

So otherwise I’ve just been working a lot. Frank finally came back after going home for a week. Then he had to go to Phoenix today and ditched me for the whole day. We were supposed to go see Batman tonight – his idea – especially since we stayed up til 1 last night watching the first one, even though he had to get up before 6 this morning. That annoyed me. I don’t even think he’s left Phoenix yet, and I don’t think he will at this point in the night. I hate when people break plans.

I’ve been watching a lot of Weeds again – I was watching Gilmore Girls again for a while. I can’t wait to catch up, but it’s going to suck to have to actually wait a week or more to see the next episode haha.

Alright, I must finish my reading for the night, but I needed to write a little and vent a little.

Oh, and I hate hate hate bills.

Geez, I had no idea I hadn’t written in so long!!

Well, my first summer class is over. No more Homer for me. I started my class about the Holocaust yesterday. I like it and it’s interesting, but there is a ton of reading! I like going to class though because it’s interesting the whole time. I don’t find myself daydreaming too much.

Because my class is at 11, I work at 9 now. I like it except that I work with another girl at the same time and there’s barely enough for one person to do, let alone two.

So last night something fell down into the tubing of our little fireplace, and I guess it made a huge thud, so Bethany thought it was a squirrel and Steveo thought it was a mouse. We spent, like, a half hour trying to get it out and couldn’t. We finally tried once more this morning since our landlord was going to have to come over to take it apart. We got it out. And by “we” I mean Steveo. It was just a really big beetle. For a while I was thinking it might have been the mouse we always hear running around in the ceiling, but I guess not haha. Oh well, his running doesn’t really bug me anyways.

So Frank went home for the week to help his mom run his grandma’s store. I’m so bored without him haha. It’s funny cause I’m still busy, but I feel lonely because usually even when I’m doing my homework and stuff he’s here too, and we stop in the middle of things to talk, but now he’s not here. Oh well, I guess. I’ll get over it. It’s been weird only making dinner for one person though.

I have good news. I weighed myself at the gym today and I’m down 10 lbs from where I was when I was home. I was hoping for more than 10 because last Monday I weighed myself and I was down 8 lbs. It’s understandable though because Saturday was my Grandparents 50th Anniversary party, so there were a lot of extra calories eaten that day with cake and such. It was a lot of fun though, and I got to see people I like (and people I don’t haha). Even though 10 lbs isn’t that much because of how much I want to lose, I already feel so much happier. I’ve noticed I’m a lot less moody, which is nice, because I know I’ve been pretty moody the last few months.

Now that I’ve finished my tons of reading for tonight, I’m going to go ahead and go to bed.

I cannot believe it’s July. It’s almost my Senior year of college. RIDICULOUS!

So Frank kind of got in a fight with his parents last night. It makes me really mad at them. His mom apparently thinks that he is trying to get money from them that he doesn’t need. The thing is he’s not that kind of guy at all. He has asked for less money from his parents than I have from mine, and I don’t ask for that much. The reason he came to school is so that he could make something of himself and so that he could help them with money when they’re old. And then they go and accuse him of freeloading. It really upset me. And it REALLY upset him. He’s always been the favorite in the family. I’ve been able to tell since day 1. So I never expected them to treat him like that. It was sad because we were having such a fun night bbq-ing and everything else that comes with the festivities of this weekend. Then I reminded him he was supposed to call his parents.

Anyway, that ended the night pretty early.

Bleh. Since my internet is not working well, I’m gonna end this post for now. I’ll write again soon.

I feel like I haven’t written in forever!!!

Well, I got my new phone today YAY! It came yesterday, and my roommate was in the shower, and my boyfriend (who was at my house so that if fed-ex came to the door in my room, he’d be able to hear) was in my room, and they went to the front door instead… so I missed it. I was very bummed. But I got it today. Thank you who ever invented leaving a signature. Anywho I can’t activate it though because one of the things that’s wrong with my phone is I can’t call anyone haha. So I get to wait until 5 or so tonight. Not so yay. Oh well, at least it’s pretty.

I’m really proud of myself. I’ve gone to the gym the last two nights in a row, and I’m going in a little while again! Yay for being skinny! … oh yeah, and healthy : P It was really exciting too because last night I went and I was in a bad mood when I got there, but it put me in a good mood. Gotta love those endorphins!

I also had an oral report today on a super confusing article about origins of The Odyssey, but I think it went well, and I think I did better on this than I usually do during speeches. Then I got to work and got to do a project. It’s nice to do projects and get away from the mundane stuff I always do. PLUS I got my work-study situation resolved, so now I can get more hours at work if I want them.

I love good weeks – maybe because good weeks don’t happen often, and maybe I’m exaggerating and it’s only been a good day, but at least it’s making my week look better retrospectively.

Let’s see… my class is also almost over. I have 5 classes left! AND I ordered my books for my next class online and it was only $36! for shipping and everything! AND two of them have already arrived.

Okay, this is probably such a happy post people who read it will puke. I’m going to get ready to go to the gym!

So I came into work today for a six hour shift and there is nothing to do. I told my boss yesterday I was coming in for the long shift (before the end of this fiscal year) and we both knew there wouldn’t be six hours of work, but I didn’t know there would only be a half hour of work. So I’m sitting here trying to get homework done, but I’m really bored. And kinda hungry. And I still have 4 hours left of work. BLEH!!!!

I have an oral report I have to about the Odyssey on Tuesday, but I’ve read the first page and a half so far and it’s about Aladdin…. I don’t get it. But that kind of annoyed me so now I don’t want to keep reading it. Plus I’m cold, and, like, I already said, I’m hungry. I’m especially tempted to leave because I may not get my homework done if I go home, but I’m coming in again tomorrow for six hours, and there won’t be work to do then either, so I can do homework then. And bring coffee. That was my mistake today.

My dad ordered my new phone today… or at least he told me he was going to. I hope it comes on Monday, cause I’m so sick of my phone. My car is also ready on Monday, I don’t know if I mentioned that and I don’t feel like going to look, but we took my car to a repair shop last Monday, but since Frank might have to go to Phoenix on Monday, I’m not sure if I’ll be able to go get it. It’ll be nice to have my car back though, plus we can stop using Frank’s gas-guzzling truck for the few times we do go anywhere.

I can’t believe my class is almost over already. I have 8 days of classes left. That is one thing I definitely like about summer school – you get it over with quick. I just hope I didn’t do too bad on my paper cause I didn’t work very hard on it, but I’ve done well on my quizzes. It’s hard to go from high school where getting A’s was mandatory (to my parents) and then coming to college. Now that I’ve raised my gpa (it sucked after my first semester) up to 3.6, getting a B isn’t a huge deal. I need to remember that.

I’m glad the draft is finally over. For some reason, even though I’ve never watched it before, I was kinda nervous, or anxious. I was really mad at first that we drafted Robin Lopez, but when I got to thinking about it and talking to Frank about it, I realized that we do need a backup center, and he’s lucky to get to work with Shaq and Amare. If he really learns from them, he’s gonna be one of the best center’s in the NBA eventually. And I didn’t realize that the Suns had a second round pick – I thought we had traded it to either Seattle or Portland (not that it matters), but I saw we drafted Malik Hairston. When I saw that I got a lot less mad about drafting Lopez, because the reason I had initially been upset is because we need a back up guard for Nash. So now that I see we have one, I’m happy. I can’t wait for next season to start.

Alright, well I’m either going to start doing some more homework or I’m gonna go home… I’m not sure which. Either way, I should stop goofing off.

I don’t like this week. I have too much to do, and I didn’t get anything done over the weekend because we had a big religious convention all weekend and my parents were here for it, so even after the religious stuff was done, I was hanging with my parents. Because of this, I barely studied for my quiz that was on Monday, but hopefully I did okay on it; I think I did. I have a four page paper due Thursday, and I’m still iffy on my topic… and my midterm is on Friday.

Frank was telling me I should’ve just taken both my summer classes during the first summer session, but with just this one class’ assignments piling up on me, I wouldn’t want a second class to worry about too. If I had taken a second class, this weekend probably would’ve killed my grades.

I watched 27 Dresses this weekend and I LOVED it! Especially the ode’s to Elton John haha. It was an awesome movie, so I decided I need to catch up on the recent romantic comedies. Frank doesn’t like them, plus we’re both skint, so I haven’t seen many movies recently. I’ve like Katherine Heigl ever since I saw her in Wish Upon a Star, the old Disney movie, but my respect for James Marsden went up.

Since the end of this fiscal year is ending at the library (and everywhere else) this weekend, my boss told me I could come in and work a couple long days, so I’m going in on Saturday, and hopefully Sunday too, to work 6 hour days to make a little extra, but I’m not sure how many hours I’m going to get once I get my work-study paperwork in. Hopefully at least 14, because that’s not even enough for all my bills…. Bleh. I hate paying for everything with my credit card. It feels so immature, but the truth is I just don’t have the money and no one down here is hiring.

Speaking of that, Frank had a job interview scheduled for yesterday and they called him a half hour beforehand to say, nevermind because they filled the position. That’s super-lame if you ask me, but Frank says he bets the person they hired knew someone else who worked there. Most likely. Probably nepotism at it’s finest.

So I plugged the page I did because of the recent blog on Shaq’s rap about Kobe. As much as I hate Kobe and love the Suns, the rap’s kinda dumb. I didn’t listen to it that closely, but just the “Kobe, tell me how my ass tastes” is a tad ridiculous. I’m just gonna link it, cause I don’t particularly want it on my page haha.

Okay, Frank is nagging me about starting my paper, and I guess he’s right. I don’t want to be stuck with all four pages left to write by tomorrow night.
